Loh Samah Bay is in the southern part of Koh Phi Phi Leh island. It is precisely on the opposite side of Maya Bay. The location is one of the most spectacular snorkeling sites on Koh Phi Phi Leh, the second-largest island of the Koh Phi Phi archipelago. Loh Samah can be easily reached by boat, and usually serves as one of the stops during a day trip to Phi Phi islands. Make sure to get your snorkeling gear ready alongside the GoPro!
Each day, almost all types of tour boats come to float, allowing tourists to admire the scenery of Loh Samah Bay. The bay is surrounded by steep limestone mountains that are full of green vegetation and contrast with the blue sky. There are no waves in the bay as it is very well protected, similar to Pileh Lagoon and Maya Bay. The sea is more bright green than blue, yet crystal clear. Even from a boat, you can see the seafloor clearly with plenty of anemones, corallines, and other colorful fish. Loh Samah Bay is a favorite among divers since it has both shallow and deep areas. Loh Samah bay is the place you won’t be able to resist grabbing the mask and jumping down to swim with a large group of fish in the sea.
When the Maya Bay beach was still open, you could walk for 5 minutes across the jungle to the other side of the wooded rock. From that viewpoint, you could witness the beauty of Loh Samah Bay above water. Some say you could also rock climb on a small beach deep inside Loh Samah Bay, but we haven’t tried ourselves. Perhaps during the next private boat tour with you?
