Bamboo Island (Koh Mai Phai) is a small island in the middle of the sea, to the north of Koh Phi Phi Don and not far from the Mosquito Island. The island belongs to the Koh Phi Phi archipelago. It is a top-rated destination for a day trip from Phuket, Krabi, Koh Lanta, and Phi Phi Don island itself. Enveloped by a strip of white sand, the Bamboo island’s central part is home to lush vegetation, including bamboo trees.
Bamboo Island snorkeling feels like swimming in an aquarium! But make sure to snorkel in the coral reef 50 meters off the white sandy beach. Even if day-trippers stop here for swimming and snorkeling, it rarely gets too crowded. Bamboo Island is pretty small, and you can walk around it in half an hour. If you want to watch the sunrise at Bamboo Island, feeling like you are alone in the world, then you can rent a camping tent directly on the beach the day before. There is also a small bar that serves drinks and snacks here. On the way to Bamboo Island, there is a spectacular coral garden called Hin Klang. It is the best snorkeling site among Phi Phi Islands, and a stop there is a must!
