Gili Petagan is the largest and most developed island among Secret Gilis. It’s a snorkeler’s dream featuring many corals and fish, including Nemos, for you to find. The whole island is covered in a mangrove forest that protects marine life and serves as a home for diverse species. Petagan’s strong point is an Amazonian vibe, due to the mangrove forest blanketing most of the island. The most beautiful areas are in the center, but the purity of the air can be felt everywhere, thanks to the mangroves. The island is known as Gili Lampu, due to the lighthouse built during the war, which is worth a visit. Some claim Petagan sunsets are the best in Indonesia, with hills providing views to Sumbawa and Mount Rinjani on a clear day. If you’re looking for snorkeling or diving, there are some beautiful spots on the western coast featuring clear and calm waters, medium depth, and plenty of fish species wandering around untouched coral reefs.
