Gili Trawangan (Gili T) is the largest and most popular island in a collection of three Gili Islands. Like its other two sisters, Gili Trawangan island finds home on the northwest coast of Lombok in Indonesia. Gili T is one of the outlying islands in the triplet setup, keeping Gili Meno in the middle while having Gili Air on the other extreme.
If you would like to enjoy the things that are possible on the bigger islands, but without all the noise and hustle, Gili Trawangan is the place to be. You won’t be choked by having too many people like you would face in nearby Bali. Even at that, though, you get to enjoy a party vibe, partake of vibrant nightlife, and scout a wide array of international restaurants on the ground to appeal to different taste buds. At the same time, the island has a collection of beautiful beaches that feature the powdery white sands that have come to be known with Gili islands over time.

Gili Trawangan snorkeling
Gili Trawangan is home to over 20 snorkeling spots and diving sites. Its location in the vibrant Coral Triangle makes Gili T a flourishing place for exotic marine life and crystal clear waters. Combine that with the sighting of turtles and manta rays, and you have more reason to go snorkeling here. If that sounds like something you are interested in, you should check out all of Gili Meno and Gili Air, which are sister islands to Gili Trawangan. Likewise, Nusa Penida (Kelingking beach, Crystal Bay, Manta Bay) and Nusa Lembongan host many snorkeling spots within easy reach from Gili Trawangan that cannot be overlooked. Finally, see what the South Gilis (Gili Nanggu, Gili Rengit, Gili Asahan) bring to the table, too, if your vacation time permits that.
Gili Trawangan diving
For diving enthusiasts, Gili T promises thrilling dive sites that make excellent backdrop pictures. Some of the most popular dive sites and snorkeling spots in Gili Trawangan islands are Shark Point, Manta Point, Halik, Biorocks, Stingray, Sunset Reef, and others. You can encounter the vast types of marine life: gentle manta rays, exotic turtles, whitetip and blacktip reef sharks, barracudas, two-dot snapper, and others. On top of that, to add an even special moment to your trip, try out Night Diving. Compared to seeing it during the day, these hidden nocturnal creatures are active.
Bali to Gili T day trip
Aquatic life thrives in Gili Trawangan, making it one of the best snorkeling tours from Bali. As for vacationers looking to enjoy Gili T in a more laid back environment, more activities are possible. You can kitesurf or paddleboard along alabaster sands on this premium island. Yet, to explore all of Gili Islands untouched nature, a short Bali to Gili Islands day trip will not be enough. You will need at least three days to cover Gili Meno and Gili Air, too, with their hidden bays, beautiful viewpoints, and world-class beaches. A yacht holiday across Gilis from Bali is a popular way to discover the best sights and take the most of the Gili Islands.
Gili T or Gili Air
Gili Air might not have the same party vibe as Gili Trawangan, but it is a better party island than Gili Meno can ever hope to be. At the same time, Gili Air manages to bring a kind of serenity that Gili T lacks. A vast majority of international restaurants are established in Gili T to suit different taste buds, in contrast to the simple lifestyle at Gili Air. Due to its larger size, Gili Trawangan is also perhaps the best place to learn how to dive in all of the Gili Islands safely, and you get much more done here too.
